Description
Introduced in 2015, Talisker Skye is named after the island that is home to the Talisker distillery. It is matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with toasted casks making up slightly more of the mix, and is bottled at 45.8% ABV without an age statement.
The toasted oak brings honey, vanilla and soft fruit to the fore, so the smoke and pepper of the Talisker house style are present but more restrained. It is an approachable introduction to the distillery and a versatile everyday malt.
- Nose: Toffee and vanilla ice cream, becoming more honeyed, with very restrained smoke.
- Palate: Honeyed toasted oak, a little pepper and smoke, baked apple, a touch of citrus and fennel seed.
- Finish: Drying, with spice and smoke.
