Description
Founded in 1830 on the shores of Loch Harport at Carbost, Talisker is the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye, and its maritime setting is written all over its whisky. The 10 Year Old is the heart of the range, matured for a minimum of a decade in American oak casks and bottled at 45.8% ABV.
- Nose: Thick, pungent smoke with pear, apple skin, sea salt and seaweed.
- Palate: Rich peat and black pepper with a hint of brine, balanced by orchard fruit and dry barley.
- Finish: Long, with toasted malt, smoky embers and a sugary sweetness.
Enjoy it neat, with a splash of water, or in a highball with soda and a twist of citrus. It also pairs well with oysters and smoked fish. A benchmark island malt, available from Decanter Liquor with delivery across South Africa.
