Description
Springbank is one of the few Scottish distilleries to carry out every stage of production on one site, from malting its own barley to bottling. Its single malts are distilled two and a half times from lightly peated malt, a recipe that gives the distillery its famously oily, briny and gently smoky style.
The 15 Year Old is matured in 100% sherry casks and bottled at 46% ABV.
- Nose: Big and bold, with cured meat, clove, mint and a touch of iodine from oloroso maturation.
- Palate: Sooty kiln smoke and tobacco leaf, with prunes, walnuts, figs and cocoa.
- Finish: Soot, leather and walnut.
Serve it neat in a nosing glass, with a few drops of water if you like, and pair it with dark chocolate or a strong cheese. This 2023 release is available from Decanter Liquor with delivery across South Africa.
