Description
Laphroaig Select is an Islay single malt built from several of the distillery’s key cask styles. Whiskies matured in Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximénez seasoned hogsheads, quarter casks, first-fill bourbon barrels and American white oak are brought together and bottled at 40% ABV with natural colour. The blend of American and European oak frames Laphroaig’s signature peat smoke with ripe fruit and sweetness.
- Nose: Peat smoke first, then ripe red fruit from the sherry casks, a little oak dryness, marzipan, lime and a floral lift.
- Palate: Full bodied and sweet at first, turning dry, peaty and ashy.
- Finish: Rich, with the dark fruit of the European oak.
How to serve: Enjoy it neat or with a few drops of water to bring out the fruit beneath the smoke. It also makes a bold, smoky highball with chilled soda water.
