Description
The Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown dates from 1872 and was rebuilt by the Mitchell family, owners of Springbank, resuming production in 2004. Its whisky is sold as Kilkerran, and it shares a production team and calendar with Springbank, which malts the barley.
Alongside the core 12 year old, Kilkerran releases a Heavily Peated single malt in numbered batches. Each batch is a vatting of heavily peated spirit, bottled at cask strength, and the cask mix and strength change from batch to batch, so check the label for the details of your bottle.
Expect a powerful but balanced Campbeltown dram, where bold smoke sits over fruit, sweetness and the region’s characteristic oily texture. Enjoy it neat first, then with a few drops of water to soften the strength. Available from Decanter Liquor with delivery across South Africa.
