Glenmorangie’s Tale series lets Director of Whisky Creation Dr Bill Lumsden turn a feeling or a memory into a single malt. Following A Tale of Cake, A Tale of Winter was inspired by the cosy moments of the colder months: curling up by the fireside while the weather turns outside.
To create it, Lumsden took Glenmorangie’s light, elegant Highland spirit, matured in American oak bourbon casks, and finished it in casks that had held Marsala, the fortified wine of Sicily. The Marsala wood brings a richer, warmer side to the house style, with chocolate, dried fruit and gentle spice that make it a natural winter warmer.
Enjoy it neat or with a drop of water, ideally with dessert or a slice of fruit cake. As a limited edition, it is a lovely bottle to open over the festive season, available from Decanter Liquor with delivery across South Africa.
