Description
Glenfiddich has been distilling in Dufftown, in the Valley of the Deer, since 1887, and remains in the hands of the founding Grant family. The Distillery Edition takes the 15 year age statement and presents it at a higher strength than the standard range, so the depth that comes from a decade and a half in oak is easier to appreciate. It is also bottled without chill-filtration, which preserves more of the whisky’s natural oils and texture.
- Nose: Fresh and floral, with a peppery edge, custard and almond.
- Palate: Creamy malt and florals that turn spicy, with dark fruit, black pepper and cinnamon.
- Finish: Long, sweet and rich.
At this strength it rewards a few drops of water, which soften the spice and bring the fruit forward. Serve neat in a tulip glass. A bolder take on a Speyside classic, available from Decanter Liquor with delivery across South Africa.
