The Compass Box Duality is a premium blended malt whisky. As a “teaspooned” malt, it combines whiskies from the Ardbeg (60 percent) distillery in Scotland and Bimber (40 percent) in England. Three different types of barrels were used for the barrel maturation. Recharred Bourbon Barrels, Refill Bourbon Barrels and Pedro Ximénez “seasoned” Hogsheads gave the blend its aroma. Compass Box bottled the Duality at a strong 52.0 percent abv.

Nosing: The whisky has peat notes typical of Islay. Smoke is present. Behind this are sweet honey and salted nuts. Tropical fruits and sultanas round off the aroma of the whisky.Tasting: The Compass Box Duality is balanced on the tongue. It tastes of nuts and salted caramel. Behind this are mangos and dried fruits. Peat smoke introduces the finish of the tea spooned malt.Finish: The finish is long-lasting. The whisky leaves with persistent smoky notes and peat. Tropical fruits remain on the palate for a long time after drinking.
