Description
The Arran Sherry Cask is the most richly sherried whisky in the core range from the Isle of Arran, produced at the Lochranza distillery in the north of the island. Lochranza opened in 1995, bringing legal whisky making back to Arran, and its spirit is known for a fresh, fruity, unpeated character.
For this bottling, that bright spirit is matured in first-fill sherry hogsheads and bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration and with no added colouring. The sherry wood layers dried fruit, sweet spice and nutty depth over the distillery’s orchard-fruit core, giving a full-bodied single malt with plenty to explore.
At cask strength it rewards patience: take a first sip neat, then add a few drops of water to soften the alcohol and open up the aromas. It also makes a fine companion to dark chocolate or a cheese board after dinner.
